An almost vacant perception occurs, reviewing the solitary mountain within the undefined black space surrounding it, not providing a clear answer to what it is. Especially since a sense of scale is not revealed for the photographical recordings of the Farina series questions and triggers the observer to find an immediate answer to context and to scale in reference to the rather ordinary, unspectacular white pile at sight – an ironic clash between the delicate, majestic looking yet nearly immaterial flour that can be blown away with a simple breath and the solid rock motif of a mountain. The dull light evokes the image of a standard light bulb reflecting upon the white pile, upon its stump material enforcing the irritation in between the fragile material and the mountainesque appearance. The flawless, minimalistic photographical recordings surprise with that distinct irritation within the perception of the images. And the precise observation of the structural composition leads to the elimination of any sense of scale as one can withdraw from the observation of the image classifying the image as dull, boring or one can engage in the contemplation of the image, in the contemplation of looking at flour.
