The individual almost poetic experienced beauty of cutting through the clouds whilst being seated in an airplane alters the scope of perspectives: from underneath to above, from in between earth and sky to in between sky and the universe, withdrawing from the earthy grounded existence to arrive in an emotionally cleansed state of mind. While cutting through the clouds – the candy-floss like clouds seem highly vulnerable as well as greatly comforting and protecting – the urge to jump into the clouds and to float across the universe, to float in peace and freedom awakes. This simple, yet deeply anchored childhood metaphor and symbol is often referred to in numerous fairy tails such as Heidi or Mary Poppins, reinforcing a comforting, secure state as well as sustaining the reference to the spiritual mind-set used in various metaphoric means and forms. In reference to the symbolic yet metaphoric means of clouds, Nubes shows clouds in such clearness and purity, in such a metaphysical entity as they are referred to. With the isolation of a single cloud structure, the series transforms the clouds into single objects, fragile and vulnerable though extreme in its simplicity and in its arrangement responding to the symbolic means that clouds have been attributed.
